As executives and leaders, you need to make sure that you don’t neglect your personal life. It’s important that you align your personal goals with your professional goals.
To help align your goals, explore and document the four parallel areas in your life: Relationships, Achievements, Rituals and Wealth.
The OPPP is a fillable PDF file.
The first 3 rows represent goals to start over the next 10-25 years, 12 months and 90 days for each of the 4 parallel areas in your life.
The fourth row represents behaviors you want to STOP in the next 90 days. See Example Chart below for reference.
READ THESE KEY DEFINITIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN.
RELATIONSHIPS What matters most in life are the depth of your relationships with friends, family and all the people you’ve helped along the way. Activities like exercise, date night with your spouse, family vacation, daily reading time and participating in a mastermind group make you you accountable for balancing work and home.
RITUALS Establishing regular routines in your life will help you achieve your stretch goals: activities like exercise, date night with spouse or kids, Mastermind Group can facilitate a necessary balance between work and life. Just like the other areas, what bad habits or behaviors do you wish to stop? Are they harmful to you or others around you?
ACHIEVEMENTS Achievements pave the way for a meaningful life. Think of ways you’d like to make an impact through your work beyond monetary goals. Consider how you can make a difference in the key relationships in your life. Also consider if your pursuit of achievements is taking you away from the relationships that matter the most.
WEALTH View wealth as a resource for supporting the rest of your personal plan. Instead of just setting aside money for retirement, think about financial goals as the ability to donate to causes and communities that matter to you. In addition, identify money to invest in experiences with family and friends. Focus on how wealth can flow through you in the service of others, rather than hoarding it.
